Catholic Life of Our School

Catholic Life of our School

Our Lady and St Edward’s Catholic Primary School is one of the parish schools of Our Lady’s, St Paul’s and Holy Cross Parish and is situated next to Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Birkenhead.

Our Lady and St Edward’s Catholic Primary School supports the parish in many ways and our Parish Priest Father Michael Coughlan works in partnership with us to support the religious life of the school. Children attend mass on Holy days and for other special celebrations. The children have the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation/First Forgiveness during Advent and the Sacrament of Eucharist during the Summer Term. Children attend Class Mass throughout the year and take part in our Advent and Lenten trails in Church. They also visit the church as part of their curriculum RE lessons or for special school events.

We work in partnership with our parents to develop the religious and spiritual lives of their children and invite them to join us in whole school celebrations in Church. We encourage parents to attend mass regularly with their children to support their faith journey.

Preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist (First Forgiveness and First Communion) takes place in School and is led by the R.E co-ordinator and Parish Priest. Parents are invited to enrol their children for preparation usually in the Autumn term of Year 3.
