F2 - Friendship and Forgiveness - Miss Kealey's Class, by Mrs Harris

Date: 26th Mar 2023 @ 10:25pm

F2 - RE Friendship and Forgiveness

On Friday in our RE lessons, we thought about friendship and forgiveness. Through a story about Freddy Teddy struggling to share at a picnic with his friends, the children considered how to resolve conflict in friendships through saying sorry and asking for / receiving forgiveness. Following this, the children engaged in a range of activities to consolidate the learning.

-the children brought in their favourite teddy’s from home to show then how we can be good friends in our class

-they took part in a teddy bears picnic

-they drew around their hands and wrote the names of 5 special friends

-they practised writing the letters in the word ‘friends’

-they spent some calm, quiet time reading stories to their teddies

We ended our day by having a snack together with our teddies and reflecting on the ways we can be good friends.

F2 - Friendship and Forgiveness - Mrs McLaren's Class, by Mrs Harris

F2

On Friday our children brought in their teddies. We read a story about a teddy being unkind at a picnic and how his friends forgave him. We then went off and worked together. We spoke about how we show forgiveness to others and how we share and show kindness,

The children had so much fun and were excellent at talking about their feelings. Our teddies had so much fun too and were very well behaved all day.

We also made sandwiches during cooking with the help of our teachers.

We chose the toppings we wanted, buttered our bread and cut them.

Farm day, by Mrs McLaren

Date: 23rd Mar 2023 @ 6:04pm

This week the children enjoyed taking part in a farm experience. We started our day by milking some cows, collecting eggs in the egg run, planting seeds, washing machinery and feeding and looking after our pony.

The children really enjoyed working together and had so much fun exploring the courtyard farm area. The children built a pen for the pony so that it wouldn't escape. They also transported fruit and vegetables to the kitchen where they cooked fresh meals for the farm workers. We all enjoyed using our imagination. It was so much fun working together just like the animals in our story Farmer Duck.

We then brought our parents and carers to the carpet area where we performed a song using our shakers ? We showed our grown ups how good our listening skills were, whilst following instructions throughout the song ??

Year 2 had an great Enterprise afternoon. We chose to make and sell painted rocks. The children decided that they could be used as either ‘Pet Rocks’ or paper weights. All the decisions were guided by the children. They chose to charge 50p for the larger rocks, and 20p for the smaller ones. Each of the rocks were designed by the children then decorated carefully with paints and pens. We had some beautiful designs; some with flowers, some with messages, character stones, monsters, aliens, dinosaurs and many more. We weren’t short of volunteers to sell our rocks either. The children on the stall were keen to attract many customers, shouting ‘Come and buy our rocks!’. The rocks proved very popular, with every rock selling out by the end of the day…even the staff bought some! We made nearly £50 to spend on craft supplies and new books for our classrooms. Well done Year 2!

F2M - Enterprise Day

Date: 7th Mar 2023

We have been working hard on our cards for enterprise day.

We used paint and stencils to print patterns onto our cards. We spoke about how important it was to do things for others. We made a card and cake stall for the children and they chose a card to take home.

With the rest of the cards we will be sending them to various care homes around wirral to make the people in the care home smile ?

Excellent work F2!

F2K - Enterprise Day, by Miss Kealey

Date: 7th Mar 2023 @ 5:59pm

F2K have enjoyed taking part in Enterprise Day. We decided to create something that would make others smile, whilst also raising some money for our class. The children decided on making cards! They worked as a team to create a range of different card designs. The children then thought about what they would like to spend the money they raise on and created a class spider diagram to show their ideas!

Today we opened our ‘F2 Card and Cake Shop’ - the children enjoyed looking at each other’s designs and choosing a card to take home to their families. We had lots of cards left over so we’ve decided to give these to local care home to share a smile with our wider community.

Excellent work F2!

Enterprise Day 2023, by Mrs Harris

Date: 5th Mar 2023 @ 6:35pm

The children all had a wonderful time during our Enterprise Preparation Day!!

Their entrepreneurial skills were certainly put to the test and they all did so well.

Modern life means our young people need to be resilient, innovative and not afraid to experiment - all important for entrepreneurs. We are using Enterprise Day to develop a range of skills in our pupils. These skills include:

- team work, financial literacy, organising and planning, using initiative, negotiation, taking risks, creativity and innovation.

A key part of enterprise is the making of goods, followed by the marketing and selling of these goods.

Take a look at our presentation / marketing videos and see what you like the look of ?

Come and Share, by Mrs Schultz

Date: 2nd Mar 2023 @ 5:24pm

Year 2 had a great 'Come and Share' morning before the half term. We talked about sharing love and kindness. The children made cards with their visiting parents and grandparents, using their fingerprints to decorate a heart. They then made 'acts of kindness' hearts. They included little notes to explain how they could share love and kindness. Some of the children made promises to tidy their bedrooms and wash the dishes, and one even offered to buy his parents a house!  We're looking forward to hearing the updates!

F2 - Come and Share, by Miss Kealey

Date: 2nd Mar 2023 @ 5:07pm

Today F2 enjoyed spending time with their grown ups for a ‘Come and Share’ session. The children used their colouring and cutting skills to create a pig, wolf or duck puppet. Everyone worked very hard and created some fantastic puppets!

Thank you to everyone who attended the come and share today – the children loved working alongside you all!

World Book Day, by Mrs Schultz

Date: 2nd Mar 2023 @ 5:06pm

What a great day we've had for World Book Day, the costumes have been amazing! We've all had a slot in the library today, made bookmarks and had a virtual author visit from the CBeebies presenter, George Webster. We've played lots of games and read countless stories and poems. Our golden tickets, Mrs Wright and Mrs Dunleavy created a treasure hunt for us today. Our task was to find three more golden tickets hidden around school over the course of the day. The children managed to find all three and were rewarded with a biscuit treat at the end of the day! Well done Year 2!

Unidentified object in the playground!, by Mrs Schultz

Date: 2nd Mar 2023 @ 4:54pm

The infant playground was awash with excitement yesterday morning. We had discovered a pile of broken bits, nuts, bolts and wires scattered around the playground. We coned everything off safely whilst we investigated what it could be. Could it be a plane? A car? A submarine (as suggested by one of the children), a rocket or a spaceship? Who knows? Watch this 'space' for updates! (Pun intended!).
