FREE month of Taekwondo classes, by Mrs Harris

In our continued desire to increase our school’s physical activity, The Jason Rodd School of Taekwondo have kindly offered us one months worth of FREE classes to support our efforts to get the children more active ? ?‍?? ?‍??
The Taekwondo class / club would be an ideal activity / hobby to help achieve this and he is very happy to offer any student and immediate family a FREE month of Taekwondo classes at their West Kirby Club to help promote our efforts ???
The club operates on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. at Hilbre high School.

Christmas Jumper Day 2022

Our whole school supported the ‘Save the Children’ movement by wearing Christmas jumpers to school. We loved showing off our festive clothes and enjoying a tasty Christmas Dinner. It was a brilliant day!

Our Year 5/4 football team for a superb win against St George’s in the Corgi Cup!

A 3-1 win with 2 goals from Dylan (Y4) and a goal from Harrison (Y5)!

Our F1 2s have had a lovely time at Clown around soft play for their Party Day ? 

There are lots of photographs for you to see, we have sliding (complete with speedy wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee faces ????)....playing....dancing....jumping in the ball pond.....eating yummy part food...........who can you see having a great time???

Judging by Mrs Jones and Miss Jenkins happy faces coming down the (children's!!!!!) slide, a great time was had by all ??????

Year 4 Chester Grosvenor Museum, by Mrs Harris

Year 4 had a fantastic day visiting The Chester Grosvenor Museum. We prepared ourselves with shields and armour ready to walk through the Roman city of Chester. Once at the amphitheatre, we practiced formations and together conquered our enemy! 

We marched back to the museum filling the streets with our Roman chant. Then we took part in a Roman education workshop where we compared Roman Chester to Chester today.

Year 6 - Come and Share 

Year 6 had a brilliant morning at come and share. We created Christmas decorations, which included sewing and filling the decorations. We linked it to our DT project of ‘Make do and Mend’ and imagined we were making the decorations for an evacuee child from WW2. Thank you to all the parents / carers and grandparents that came to help. We had so much fun!

Year 6 have recently been learning about the circulatory system in science. The children have gained a good understanding of the circulatory system and that it is a network within the body that consists of blood, blood vessels, and the heart. Children today participated in a workshop which included dissecting hearts and learnt about the respiratory system in more detail.

Alzheimer's Society Elf Day - Friday, 2 December 2022, by Mrs Harris

We all loved our ‘Elf Day’ on Friday - school has never looked so green and red!!! 

Best of all we raised a whopping amount for the Alzheimer's Society to help people affected by dementia. 

 

We also have a winner for the beautifully made Elf Cake, carefully crafted by our very own Miss Cumings.

Scarlet in Year 3 looks soooooo happy that she's the winner!!! ????

We had a lovely morning creating our own Roman mosaics with our adults. We enjoyed telling them all about our topic on Romans and what we have learned so far, from the invasion attempts on Britain, how Romans lived, to the battle with Boudicca.

About the Author

Susanne has worked with Waterstones, children’s magazine Kaleidoscope and independently to provide book readings and workshops throughout the year and is the author of best selling The Donkey’s First Christmas. She has worked in publishing since leaving Copenhagen in 2006 and now lives on the Wirral with her husband and two boys of 15 and 12. 

Susanne came into school today to provide some top tips for writing and also read her new book 'The Robin's First Christmas', which tells the Christmas story from a Robin's perspective.

The children had great fun acting out parts of the story and asking questions about how to become an author.

Susanne even signed books for those children who had purchased the book over the weekend!

Mini Pathfinders - Year 6 Miss Barron's class, by Mrs Harris

Year 6 - Mini Pathfinders 

 

Year 6, Miss Barron's class have enjoyed working alongside the C.E.L.L.S project, hearing from ex offenders and people who have been affected by crime but who have now turned their lives around. 

Year 6 joined in workshops and discussed important messages about their choices that could affect their future.

The children also enjoyed looking around a mock prison cell and taking part in a mock court case ??‍????‍??

What an awesome week Miss Barron's class have had, thanks so much to #minipathfinders, #TEAMBEB and #wirralpolice 

The activities have been led by Merseyside Police and partners to provide information to Year 6 about preventing offending in the future and making positive life decisions around Anti-social Behaviour, lifestyle choices, such as exercise and food, road safety and cyber safety. 

We ended the week with an awards session with certificates and cups presented by Police Officers present in school during Mini Pathfinders ???
