F2 #SchoolsChallenge Event 🐻🧸🐻🧸

F2 have cuddled their teddies and enjoyed listening to stories - The Amazing Spider-Man, Don’t Hog the Hedge, The Tiger who Came to Tea and many more! We made our own hedgehogs out of play-doh, created hedgehog houses using natural materials we’d collected and introduced our teddies to our friends. We have had a lovely day!

F2 - God's Planet Retreat Day

We had lots of fun being planet heroes on Friday. We learnt about looking after God's earth. We created salt dough patterns using natural resources.

We created octopus using plastic bags and created badges to be planet heroes 🌎❤️

Our F2 children really enjoyed bringing their cuddly toys in today. Some of our class teddies were also chosen as reading buddies.

We had lots of fun not only reading lots of stories, but also reading stories to our teddies. We can't wait to see how much money we have all raised 😊

More from Year 6, who took part in their sponsored games and puzzle event for Radio City 96.7 Cash for Kids #SchoolsChallenge. The children really enjoyed the afternoon and it all got very competitive- especially the game of Monopoly!

#SchoolsChallenge Update

We are now at the half way point in our school fundraising challenge and the support we have been receiving from our school and local community is outstanding. We are unable to share with you our total figure raised so far as this is kept top secret at Cash for Kids HQ. The big reveal is being held on Monday 06 November at 12.30pm, we can not wait to share our total with you all.

We now have only 12 days left to raise as much as we can for our school and to be in with a chance of winning one of the top prizes. This is what we have coming up ….

The BIG Raffle

There is still time to be in with a chance of winning one of our amazing prizes, please ensure your tickets are back in school no later than Monday 16 October. If you have not received raffle tickets or require more please call into the main school office. The draw will be held at a whole school assembly on Wednesday 18 October 2023.

Inter Class Sponsored Event

Children in all year groups will be participating in their Inter Class Sponsored Events today!!!!!!!

* F1 - 'Singing and Music'. The children will have lots of fun at our singalong and danceathon event.

* F2 - 'Bring your Favourite Teddy to F2'. How many stories can Teddy listen to?

* Y1 - 'Balancing Activities'. Can our Y1’s balance along a beam? What about balancing a bean bag on your head too?

* Y2 - 'How Many Sweets in the Jar', 'Guess Teddy's Name' and 'Star Jumps'

Children in all year groups can bring in 20p and guess the name of the teddy or how many sweets in the jar.

* Y3 - 'Cake Sale and Art Task'.

We are asking parents of Year 3 to donate cakes. Children in other years can bring in 50p/£1 to purchase a cake throughout the day

* Y4 - 'Football Events'. How many keepie up’s can our Y4’s do? How many goals can you score against Mr Ball?

* Y5 - 'Sponsored Dance'. How many new dances can our Y5 learn?

* Y6 - 'Sponsored Puzzles'. Are you puzzled? Our Y6 will be! How many puzzles can they complete today?

Sponsor forms have been sent home with your child or alternatively donations can be made via our online link: https://www.cashforkidsgive.co.uk/.../our-lady-st.../

If you are collecting sponsors in cash please ensure your sponsor form is completed in full so that Radio City Cash for Kids can collect any gift aid portion of your donations.

All sponsor forms and cash raised should be returned to school no later than Monday 16 October.

The Final Event

Our final BIG event will be on Friday, 20 October. Friday Fun Day will once again be an own clothes day (no football kits) and crazy hair day too!

The fun doesn’t stop there, the children will all enjoy a year group DISCO during the day. We will have our donation buckets out for the final time and our online donations will remain live until 23rd October for that final push to raise as much as we can for our school

Planet Heroes!, by Mrs Schultz

As part of the RE retreat last Friday 6th October, the children in Year 1 made a pledge to become a Planet Hero. They each made a badge to take home and attended a theatre workshop and production. In class, they learned all about the plastic that ends up in our oceans and how it affects the wildlife and ocean creatures. They used old plastic bags to make jellyfish. They worked really well in their teams and it was lovely to hear them talk through their designs and ideas. Then we talked about the wonders of nature and how beautiful God's world is. The children used natural materials to make art. Most of our children made faces using the conkers, pine cones, leaves and flowers. What a lovely day it was, we can't wait for them to share the news and recruit more Planet Heroes!

Today, Year 3RK enjoyed taking part the RE retreat day – ‘God’s Planet’. The children spent the day thinking about God’s wonderful creation – our planet! The children enjoyed engaging in a range of activities such as learning new songs, listening to the creation story and making their own ‘God’s Creation’ salt dough craft. We also learnt about how we can become a ‘Planet Hero’ and play our part in protecting God’s special creation.

What a lovely way to celebrate the wonderful things God gifted to us!

Mrs McGunigall’s Year 3 class had such a fantastic day full of fun and creation with the theme of looking after our planet earth which God created. We brought in lots of recyclable materials (which we will definitely be using in the upcoming weeks), and resources from nature walks. We thought about what we collected to help create our own ‘God’s Creations’ dough plaque. We also had fun making Our Planet badges with our ‘pledges’ to help keep our earth protected ❤️ 🌎

Year 6 have been learning about refugees this morning. As a class we read the poem ‘Refugees’ by Brian Bilston. It was an interesting poem as when we read it from the bottom to the top it changed the meaning of the poem. The children enjoyed discussing the meaning of the poem.

Some children performed the poem and we also reflected on what we had learnt and prayed for refugees around the world.
