Year 3 Sacramental Preparation

Today we explored what ‘The Mass’ is in preparation for making our First Holy Communion. We reflected on how our Catholic Community celebrate the love that Jesus has for us.

We also thought about who might need our prayers in our local area and global families and wrote some of our own bidding prayers.

Year 3 Reflect on Pentecost Through Art and Words, by Mrs Harris

Date: 7th May 2025 @ 9:09pm

In their RE lessons this week, Year 3 pupils have been learning about the feast of Pentecost and its significance in the life of the Church. As part of their reflection, they used watercolour paints to create their own interpretations of this important event. Around their artwork, they thoughtfully chose and wrote words that describe the transformative effect of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles.

This activity offered pupils a meaningful opportunity to express their understanding of faith through creativity, deepening both their knowledge and their personal reflection.

Year 3 Explore Parkgate: Then and Now, by Mrs Harris

Date: 7th May 2025 @ 8:42pm

As part of their local history topic, Year 3 have been learning all about Parkgate through the ages. Pupils compared historical photographs from over 100 years ago with images from today and discovered that while many of the buildings have remained the same, the biggest change is the transformation from water to marshland.

The children also enjoyed learning about Parkgate’s most famous treat — its delicious ice cream — and agreed it remains a wonderful place to visit. This engaging activity helped bring local history to life in a fun and meaningful way.

Buzzing with Excitement: Holden’s Beekeeping Adventure, by Mrs Harris

Date: 28th Apr 2025 @ 8:47pm

This evening, we were absolutely delighted to see Holden stepping into the fascinating world of beekeeping — and following in his dad’s footsteps!

Dressed in full beekeeping gear, Holden showed great enthusiasm and curiosity as he learned how to care for these incredible little creatures. His confidence and interest truly shone through, and it was wonderful to witness such a memorable and inspiring moment.

Learning experiences like this one show just how important hands-on opportunities are in sparking a lifelong love of the natural world. We are all so proud of you, Holden — a brilliant future beekeeper in the making!

Keep shining, learning, and inspiring others with your passion!

Year 4 History, by Mrs Harris

Date: 25th Apr 2025 @ 3:18pm

Year 4 Shipbuilders in Action!
As part of our local History study, Year 4 explored the many fascinating job roles in a shipyard! The children became marine architects and designed their own cargo boats with specific dimensions.
Miss Barron, our very own project manager, carried out quality control checks on each ship
With careful instruction-following and teamwork, the children then ‘built’ their cargo ships – and we’re delighted to say... they all passed!

Year 4 RE, by Mrs Harris

Date: 25th Apr 2025 @ 3:14pm

Year 4 have been exploring the beautiful story of when Jesus appeared to His disciples on the seashore. At first, they didn’t recognise Him - reminding us how important it is to trust in God, even when things aren’t clear.
Together, we talked about ways we can spread His Word and live by His example. Each child created their own fish to add to our class fishing net, sharing special values we need to follow in Jesus' footsteps.

Walking with Jesus through Holy Week, by Mrs Harris

Date: 16th Apr 2025 @ 7:21pm

Walking with Jesus Through Holy Week – Year 5 and 6

This week, our Year 5 and 6 children have been busy taking part in lots of special Holy Week activities to help them prepare for Easter ✝️

They learned about The Last Supper 🍞, played fun Easter games, and took part in a lovely hand-washing liturgy πŸ‘ to remind them of Jesus’ service and love. They also walked to Birkenhead Park, carrying a cross just like Jesus did βž•, and designed their own beautiful candles to get ready for Holy Saturday

There’s been lots of time to think, pray and reflect on the true meaning of Easter – a time of hope, love and new life ✨

Hoylake Lifeboat Station, by Mrs Schultz

Date: 28th Mar 2025 @ 12:04am

Year 1 had a fantastic trip to Hoylake Lifeboat Station yesterday. The children learnt all about the hard work of the RNLI and how lifeboats have changed from the past to the present. Each lifeboat class is named after a river and the one that they house in Hoylake is a Shannon Class. We were surprised to learn that a Shannon lifeboat costs £2.4 million and weighs the same as 3 African elephants! We also saw their hovercraft and experienced life in the crew rooms, where we saw where the selfless volunteers dress in their all-weather suits and can look out over the River Mersey. We had a great time and thanked them for their service to the community and for giving their time to teach us all about horse power and engines! We found out that only the day before, the coastguards were called upon for a rescue operation. This just goes to show how important the RNLI's role is in saving lives. Thanks to the parents who donated money as part of our trip cost, the RNLI is a charity and the volunteers there led this trip for us at no cost. Your donations will be sent across to support them to continue their life-saving service.
