There are books to read as a family and staged reading books which are pitched at all ability levels so that the children can continue to practise their reading at home.

Just a quick reminder of how to access your Online Learning Tasks via the school website....
Click on the 'Classes' tab on the school website homepage
Select 'Year 6'
Scroll down to the bottom of the page, you will see a message updated daily...videos will start from tomorrow! (Thursday 7th)
You will also find the weekly plan of lessons and activities- there are links to videos and information that will help you on here too.
To upload your work, you will need to log in to our SchoolSpider using your own login. Please contact us via the school office if you need your login.
You can either attach a file or upload a picture of your work.
We will then provide feedback for your work as quickly as possible via SchoolSpider.

Hi F2,
We hope you are okay and are staying safe with your families. Each day we are going to post a blog in the morning on the class page outlining their tasks for the day. Here is a plan of today’s activities.
- This week in Literacy, we are learning about the story, Little Red Riding Hood. Today, Listen and watch the story https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q32d4k9jeTE. Can you create a story map using pictures? (See below for an example) Can you remember what happens in the beginning, middle and end?
- This week in Phonics, we are practising our Phase 2 sounds: (s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, ck, e, u, r, h, b, f, ff, l, ll, ss) and our Phase 3 sounds: (j, v, w, x, y, z, zz, qu, ch, sh, th, ng, ai, ee, igh, oa, oo, ar, or, ur, ow, oi, ear, air, ure, er). Today, play the free games on Phonics Play to practise your blending skills. https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/resources
- This week in Mathematics, we are learning about ‘More and Less’. Today, play the game ‘Chopper Squad’ https://www.topmarks.co.uk/learning-to-count/chopper-squad. Can you make a number line to 20? Choose a number and find out what is one more and one less than that number? Write it down your answers.
- This week in Understanding the World, we are thinking about ‘Can all animals be pets?’ Today, listen to the story ‘Dear Zoo’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqGYWRHOV6E. Think about different animals that can be pets and animals that cannot be pets and why. Can you draw pictures of different animals and sort them into 2 groups.

For example: A dog could be a pet because it is small. An elephant cannot be a pet because it is too big. Challenge – Can you write the name of the animal next to your picture and why it may or may not be a pet?
Have fun and remember to post pictures of your work on Tapestry!

F2A - Christmas Party Day, by Miss Ward

F2A have had a brilliant Christmas party day. The children worked hard to prepare for their party by deciding what games and decorations they would like. We even made placemats, party hats and had a visit from Santa! The party was lots of fun!
This afternoon, we joined in with a whole school virtual Nativity story. The children sang some songs and made some lovely angel decorations.
We hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

F2B have had a fantastic Christmas week. The children worked very hard to prepare for their party. They made placemats, party hats, decorations and so much more. The party was lots of fun - we even got a sneaky visit from Santa!
We ended our week by joining in with a whole school virtual Nativity story. The children made some lovely angel decorations.

Christmas Singalong 2020, by Mrs Harris

This year has been unprecedented and not like any other we have known.
Looking back we can smile at the many ways in which we all joined together as a community when we were told to stay apart!!
Many of our children clapped for carers and the NHS, walked alongside Captain Tom and brought happinness to their extended families from their doorsteps.
School has been a very different place and our children have surprised us all with their willingness to adapt to new routines including social distancing, extra hand washing and sanitising and keeping each other as safe as possible.
We do hope that you can look back on 2020 and take joy from these simple actions.
As you know, we have not been able to enjoy the usual Christmas celebrations in school this year.....no pantomime or Christmas performances.............however............we have joined in The Alzheimer's Society Elf Day, Anti-Bullying Week with odd socks, Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day, had TWO Christmas Lunch days, enjoyed a class bubble Christmas Party and received a visit from Father Christmas
Tomorrow children will listen to The Nativity Story before we break for Christmas holidays.
OOOOOPS, almost forgot!! We also had a CHRISTMAS SINGALONG in our class bubble.....ENJOY!!

Time Table Rock Star Battle, by Miss Welsh

This week Year 5 can take part in our very first Times table Rock star battle. The tournament starts on the 23rd of November and will ends on the 4th of December. It’s a very special event and just for our Year 5’s. It would be great to see everyone log on and participate.

This week the whole school have been celebrating our differences with an 'odd socks' week. In Year 1, we have watched an assembly about bullying and made posters to persuade people to be kind to others. It has been great to see lots of children participating, and wearing their odd socks every day! Let's keep it going for the rest of the week!

Dear Parents and Carers,
Next week in our Thematic work, our topic is ‘What do you know about me?’. Within this topic the children will be looking at how they have changed since they were a baby/toddler to them now. To support this topic we would like a photograph of your child as a baby or toddler so we can use them within our work.
As we are unable to ask you to bring the photos in to school, we are asking for you to email them to us and we can print them for your child to use within their thematic work.

Our Science topic this half term is all about plants! Today Year 1 went on a plant hunt in the school's edible garden and investigated what plants we could spot!
We had a great time exploring the garden and finding the fruits and vegetables that are growing in there!

Hello Year 1 Parents and Carers!
As your child begins the subject of History this year, our first topic for this half-term is ‘My History’, where the children will be looking back at their life and making a timeline.
To support this topic, we would like 2 photos of your child, one as a baby and one as a toddler (we can take the photos of them now!)
